Biography, courtesy of Mountain Town Music:
Dr. Jon has been a performing artist on small stages and house concerts for over 30 years and tailors the size of the band to match the venue. Arriving in 2000, Dr. Jon (who has been a practicing dentist in Park City for more than 20 years) used session work, jam sessions and live performances to grow his dental practice. Classically trained in piano and Flamenco guitar since the age of 6, he started gigging out in high-school and University bands and worked as a side-man to help pay for college and dental school. After 14 years of full-time practice in Park City, Dr. Jon packed up a car-load of gear in pursuit of a faculty appointment and post-doctorate level teaching with the US Navy which brought him to Oceanside (California), Gulfport (Mississippi), Portsmouth (Virginia) and Jacksonville (North Carolina). While stationed at Naval Hospital Portsmouth, it was an ideal time to produce recorded music. In 2019, Dr. Jon’s band, Mountain Town, entered into a management and recording arrangement with London UK based record label The Animal Farm Music. Valuing artistic freedom, the label encouraged Jon to continue releasing self-published material so that the scope of work spans beautiful theatrically sounding songs to stripped down ‘bar-room’ anthems. Self-published material mixed and mastered at NashVox Studios and McKay Studios (Nashville, TN). Most often booked as a solo act, Dr. Jon brings you the music and stories of Mountain Town with the addition of tracked drum parts for high energy dance numbers and a harmony setting for the vocal mic that leaves the audience wondering ‘where is the backup singer?’ Mountain Towns’ debut album ‘Far From Home’ was released in August 2022 and is available in print CD and on all digital platforms. Not wanting to step away from the dental chair for too long now that he’s back home, popular venues include local bars, wineries and brewpubs in the western states.
