Emerging Issues: Genetic Engineering
January 13 @ 1:45 pm - 2:45 pm
Join us for our once-a-month discussion series at the Park City Senior Center. Led by member, Bob Shallenberg, each Emerging Issues discussion will center around a topical or political issue and feature a 30-minute introductory video followed by 30 minutes of civil discussion.
January’s discussion, entitled “Human Augmentation – Genetic Engineering via Gene Editing and Brain/Computer interfaces,” will revolve around advances in genetic engineering that are creating possibilities for curing genetic disorders, but also raising the specter of “designer babies”. Brain-computer interfaces are also allowing individuals with spinal cord injuries to regain some control of life functions that had been lost. Today’s video explores what is happening now and what it may lead in the future.
Join us on Tuesday, January 13th at 1:45 PM at the Park City Senior Center for Emerging Issues. No registration is required, simply show up!
