DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Park City Senior Center as we explore the heart and soul of American music through the powerful story of the Blues. From its roots in spiritual and work songs to its influence on rock and roll\, this class highlights legendary artists like Robert Johnson\, Memphis Minnie\, Muddy Waters\, Etta James\, B. B. King\, Eric Clapton and many more. Learn about the Chicago blues sound\, how the blues affected the 60s British music invasion\, and the role of the blues in Gospel music. This class brings the music\, history\, and the emotion of the Blues to life as it shows how the blues started and how it evolved up to the present. It is perfect for the longtime fan and/or the curious newcomer. \n“The History of Blues Music” presentation series will take place over four consecutive Tuesdays from July 14th to August 4th beginning at 1:30 PM. Each session will last approximately 90 minutes and will include visual\, audio\, and interactive elements. There is no cost to attend and there is no need to sign up ahead of time. \nStop by the Park City Senior Center on July 14th\, July 21th\, July 28th\, and August 4th from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM to learn all about the history of America’s most storied genre of music.\n\nAbout the Teacher\nPaul Bolhous has been a life-long advocate of blues music and is a student of its history. He is the author of a weekly blues newsletter that introduces fans to new and old artists\, styles\, backgrounds\, and songs.
