DESCRIPTION:Join your pals and yoga instructor Michelle Melendez-Rivera for a brand new fitness experience at the Park City Senior Center: Video Yoga. Video Yoga is a weekly senior-focused video-based class designed to promote physical and mental wellbeing in an accessible yet engaging way. What’s more\, participants can either participate in a group setting at the Senior Center\, or from the comfort of their own homes on their own time! \nThe Details \n\n\nVideo Yoga will be held in-person every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Park City Senior Center. A movable\, mounted television will be used to broadcast Michelle’s videos to the class.\nAt the end of each month\, a link to the previous month’s videos will be added to the newsletter\, allowing members to follow along at home.\nThis class is entirely free for all members and there is no need to sign up ahead of time. Simply show up!\nVideo Yoga may be slightly more challenging than Heather Flynn’s Chair Yoga class; however\, it will still be geared specifically for seniors.\nThis class will primarily utilize chairs\, though standing yoga poses may also be incorporated.\nEach week\, Michelle will record a two-part video exclusively for the Park City Senior Center. These videos will use the following general structure from week to week:\n\nPart 1 is a 20-minute Kundalini-inspired yoga flow. This is a dynamic practice\, open to everyone\, offering instructions for modifications meant to support a first-time student while still challenging a seasoned yogi. We will combine kriyo (movement with our breath) and asanas (postures) to build heat\, tone the body\, strengthen our nervous system\, empower mobility\, and support balance.\nPart 2 is a 50-minute Yin Chair Yoga (deep stretch) class. In this class\, we will combine both meditative breath work and asanas (postures)\, held for more extended time with the support of the chair\, to target deep connective tissues (ligaments\, fascia\, joints) and the muscles. This practice is a healing/recovery practice\, and when done consistently\, enables deep tissue release\, improves flexibility and mobility\, promotes better circulation and hydration of the body’s tissues\, and helps prepare the body for meditation.
