SUMMARY:Becoming Real with Nancy Garbett
DESCRIPTION:Nancy Garbett’s impactful discussion-based mental wellness class\, Becoming Real\, will now be held every fourth Tuesdays of the month at 11:00 AM. Join Nancy on May 26th at the Senior Center for the next installment of this popular activity. \nAbout Becoming Real\nBecoming Real is not a destination. It is a practice of returning — again and again — to awareness\, presence\, and choice. The work is not about fixing yourself. It is an invitation to notice what is already present and to pause inside experience\, recognize patterns as they arise\, and engage with life with greater clarity\, presence\, and agency. \nThe practices here are simple. They are meant to be used in real life — in conversations that matter\, in moments of uncertainty or “not knowing\,” and in the quiet places where clarity first appears. \nThis work will meet you where you are. And that has always been the point.

SUMMARY:Intergenerational Book Club With Park City High School
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with Park City High School’s Student Book Club\, the Park City Senior Center is proud to announce that we will be hosting a special\, one-time book club meeting that will bring the young and old of Park City together. Join PCHS students on Tuesday\, May 26th at 3:00 PM for a discussion about Remarkably Bright Creatures\, a New York Times bestselling novel whose themes cover the subjects of aging\, loss\, loneliness\, companionship\, and healing. \nAll members of the Park City Senior Center are invited to participate. Participants are encouraged to purchase or check out their own copies of Remarkably Bright Creatures\, though a limited number of copies are available for check out at the Senior Center. Please be sure to sign up beforehand at the Senior Center or contact Trason at director@parkcityseniors.org. or (801) 613-2329 to register. \nAbout Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt\nAfter Tova Sullivan’s husband died\, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium\, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope\, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son\, Erik\, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. \nTova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus\, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova. \nEver the detective\, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova’s son disappeared. And now Marcellus must use every trick his old invertebrate body can muster to unearth the truth for her before it’s too late. \nShelby Van Pelt’s debut novel is a gentle reminder that sometimes taking a hard look at the past can help uncover a future that once felt impossible.
